Samsung to Provide WiBro Equipment to Brazilian TVA

Samsung recently announced it has reached an agreement with Brazilian TVA, a cable TV service company belonging to the Abril Group, under which Samsung will provide its Brazilian partner with WiBro systems and end-devices. Testing of the equipment is expected to take place in the first half of 2006, with commercial use to kick off in Sao Paulo in the second half of the year. Samsung earlier signed contracts with US Sprint Nextel and Japanese KDDI for WiBro equipment, and the company is currently in talks with Italian Telecom Italia Mobile on supplying WiBro trial systems intended for use during the Winter Olympics in 2006.
